We present a recent analysis of the FUSE spectrum of the DO white dwarf RE J0503-289, to search for possible heavy elements that have not been detected at other wavelengths. Apart from the expected detection of phosphorous and sulphur, we find no evidence for the presence of any elements other than those already identified from earlier observations. However, we note that many observed absorption lines are not readily identifiable from existing line lists. A preliminary exploration of alternative sources of line data indicates that many of these are high excitation level transitions that have not been routinely included in the available line lists.
