The interaction of turbulence with a gas dynamic shock wave is considered. Both the linear theory and numerical simulations are discussed. In particular, we show that the shock generates vorticity, and hence helicity, suggesting that this process may be of importance in generating and amplifying magnetic fields in the vicinity of a shock. The shock also generates a compressible downstream wave field.
