We have done calculations modelling the post-AGB evolution. Our modelling takes into account the evolution of the central star and hydrodynamics of the dust-gas nebula formed from the AGB and post-AGB winds. The results allow us to construct and discuss a histogram of post-AGB objects with the spectral type. We show that important selection effects can be present in the histogram due to large optical thickness of the nebula in early post-AGB phases. A preliminary comparison of the modelled histograms with observations suggests that the typical mass of post-AGB objects is close to 0.6 mboxMsolar.
