Recent results of photoelectric measurements of Jovian CH4 and NH3 absorption bands are examined from the viewpoint of a two-layer model that takes into account the role of multiple scattering within the Jovian cloud cover in the formation of these bands. The two-layer model contains a homogeneous semiinfinite cloud layer and is characterized only by the degree of asymmetry in the scattering phase function. Curves of growth for the 3 nu(3), 6190-A, 7250-A, and 5430-A CH4 bands are calculated for different values of the asymmetry parameter, and the CH4 content within the cloud layer is determined in terms of the amount of absorptive gas along a mean free path in that layer. Similar treatment of the NH3 6457.1-A absorption line yields an estimate of 0.00005 for the relative abundance of NH3 within the cloud layer
