These conference proceedings contain review, contributed and poster papers discussing results related to the proto-planetary nebulae (PPNe), a short lasting phase between Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) and planetary nebulae. Results from the Hubble Space Telescope, the Infrared Space Observatory and other instruments are discussed and compared with theoretical predictions with the aim to formulate a consistent picture of the proto-planetary evolution. The main topics emphasized in the book include discussion of stellar evolution and winds, the onset of asymmetrical structures, chemical composition of the central stars as well as the constituents of their enelopes (atomic gas, molecular gas and dust). The book is intended for professional astronomers and students.
