A scale transformation is obtained which allows the Hertel and Thirring (1971) gravitational-phase-transition theory to be extended to more generalized astrophysical conditions. It is shown that by means of this transformation, the formation of core-halo structures in late-type stars can be explained. The effect of the physical conditions peculiar to this type of star is discussed.
