An examination of the spectra of nine A-type LMC supergiants shows that
no unique spectral type can be assigned to these stars. In general, both
the Ca and Ti lines correspond to a later spectral type than the lines
of metals, a fact which could be interpreted either as a luminosity
effect or as an underabundance effect.
