Hartmann tests carried out in 1979 on a new primary mirror installed on the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory in the Caucasus are described. It was found that the change from the engineering support system employed during fabrication of the mirror to the regular support system on the telescope itself did not alter the wave-front topography of the energy distribution in the image formed by the new 6-m primary. It was also found that as the zenith distance increased the wave-front topography changed slightly, the main effect being a variation in the position angle of the astigmatism, with the amplitude remaining constant.
