We propose to perform a large survey of 30 deeply embedded newborn Herbig-Haro energy sources with OSCIR at M, N and Q. The sources of Herbig-Haro jets have ages between 10^4 and 10^5 yr, and are therefore among the youngest stars known. The formation of binary companions have happened just prior to this phase, and we will compare the statistics of binarity and the separation distribution function with the much more evolved T Tauri stars. Circumstellar material is abundant at such an early evolutionary stage, and we will attempt to detect flattened disk like structures. Finally, by obtaining M, N and Q photometry, we can compare the position of sources in M-N vs N-Q and N vs N-Q diagrams with the dimensions and energetics of the associated jets, to establish a link between source and jet properties.
