We have discovered evidence for relativistically outflowing gas in the line-of-sight to several narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1s). This may be similar to the process which results in the broad UV absorption lines seen in 10% of optically selected quasars. Since broad absorption line quasars (BALQSOs) also often show substantial polarization, we propose to follow this connection to see if a sample of carefully selected NLS1s also show high continuum polarization. This study has broader significance: since BALQSOs are X-ray quiet, it is difficult to determine the shape of their photoionizing continuum spectrum, an essential component for models of the properties of the outflowing gas. NLS1s, on the other hand, are bright enough in the X- ray band to allow measurement of their high energy continua. Detection of high polarization will be used to motivate followup HST UV spectroscopy to search for BALs.
