Star formation in spiral arms is due to preliminary compression of the interstellar medium by spiral shocks and may lead to the discreteness and multiplicity of the velocity dispersion of stars formed in the same gas-dust complex. The discrete character of velocity dispersion is confirmed by observational data for different samples of dwarf and giant stars in the vicinity of the sun which belong to extremely flat, plane, disk, and intermediate subsystems. Spatial velocity dispersions are multiples of 10 km/sec. Some variance in stellar velocity dispersions may be explained by small samples, observational selection, and a partially remanent inhomogeneity of groups in an astrophysical relationship.
