Magellanic irregular and spiral galaxies which contain prominent bars are investigated. The most active sites of star formation are shown to occur near the ends of the bars. Forty-four galaxies that have major axes larger than 4 arcmin are examined with 14 galaxies having large peripheral H II regions. The distance between the H II regions and the centers of the bars are measured along with the ratios of these distances to the semimajor axes of the bars. It is suggested that prominent star forming regions occur near the peripheries of barred Magellanic spirals and irregulars because the galaxies experience gas dynamics similar to that in the inner barred regions of massive barred spirals.
