The Tomimatsu-Sato solutions of Einstein's equations are considered, and a method is shown for obtaining the effective-potential curves for equatorial geodesics in order to read off qualitative features of radial motion. This is done for values of 1, 2, and 3 for the distortion parameter and for both the case where the specific angular momentum is less than and greater than the mass of the source. It is shown that it is impossible for a test particle coming from negative infinity to reach the innermost ring singularity.
