The spectral dependences of the contrast between light and dark markings on Venus observed in the ultraviolet are presented. Photographic spectra of Venus in the phase angle range 68 to 90 degrees were recorded in the region 3500 to 5100 A, and corrected for distortion due to turbulence and chromatic refraction in the earth's atmosphere. It is observed that contrasts are subject to transient variations, however relative contrasts remain constant. The dark to light reflectivity ratio in the 3500 A region is observed to be 15 to 40% less than in the 5100 A region, with no significant spectral differences in the 5100 to 4600 A range and the main increase in contrast between 4600 and 3800 A. The shape of the spectral curve of the relative reflectivity of UV markings is found to be similar to that of the entire disk of Venus, constant, on the average, from year to year, and comparable to the results of other investigations.
