The properties of three very luminous carbon stars in the Large
Magellanic Cloud are discussed. Two of the three are rather blue, with
(R-I) values of about 0.88, and exhibit significant amounts of C-13 in
their spectra. The third is the first carbon Mira to be found in the
LMC.
