Results are presented for moderately high-resolution (about 2 A) spectroscopy of the quasar Mrk 132 over the wavelength range from 3160 to 4960 A and spectrophotometry over the range from 3200 to 8400 A. It is found that the continuum can be fitted very well by a power law with a spectral index of 0.94 + or - 0.3 longward of 4500 A, but the extrapolation to shorter wavelengths underestimates the observed continuum level. Integrated fluxes and equivalent widths are given for six emission lines, and the mean emission redshift is estimated as 1.755 + or - 0.002. A total of 49 absorption lines are observed, of which about half are identified. One pair of closely split absorption redshift systems (at z = 1.7306 and 1.7324) is shown to be highly significant; six other absorption redshift systems are also suggested on the basis of C IV doublets. It is noted that C IV-C IV line locking may be operating in several of the latter systems.
