The effects of mass loss and semiconvection on the evolutionary sequences of a Population I star of 15 solar masses are investigated; the studies focus on each factor separately and on the effects of both factors combined. Without semiconvection, the early evolutionary phases may result in stars up to 25% undermassive for their luminosity as they reach the red giant branch; sequences losing mass in the initial stages pass through the HR diagram rather slowly. Among the effects of semiconvection on the evolutionary sequences is the possible elimination of the blue loop. On the whole it appears that semiconvection and mass loss alone cannot reconcile theory and observation in the case of the stars considered.
