Szebehely (1967), in considering a condition for linear stability of the two equidistant points of equilibrium in the restricted three-body problem, obtained the result that the critical value of the mass parameter increases if there is a small positive change in the Coriolis force from unity. However, the present authors point out that if the more massive primary is an oblate spheroid, the range of the mass parameter leading to stable triangular solutions decreases. Oblateness, when secular effects are taken into account, results in an increase in the Coriolis force, so Szebehely's conclusion is in contradiction with this.
