Approximate analytical solutions of the radiative transport problem in a strongly saturated maser are derived. In particular, the effects introduced by the difference of the emission and absorption profiles have been taken into account. It is shown that the observed parameters of a spherically symmetric maser cloud, such as the apparent size or the linewidth, depend in a sensitive way on the details of the radiative transport. For example, the rebroadening of the emitted spectral line is not complete, in contrast to the behavior of the corresponding one-dimensional configuration.
