Relations between indices on the Stromgren and multichannel spectrophotometry (MCSP) systems are noted to be composition-dependent, in a study of data for 110 white dwarfs which give the relations between Stromgren (b-y) and multichannel /G-R/, on the one hand, and between Stromgren (u-b) and multichannel /U-V/, on the other. The dispersion about the mean relations is greater for stars with He-dominated atmospheres, perhaps because such trace elements as C affect the color differently. Theoretical color indices for H-atmosphere models resemble those observed, where the slope and zero point of a Stromgren, MCSP color relation is given within 10 percent.
