An optical polarization map of PV Cep/GM29 nebulosity shows that the intermittent streak is a reflection effect produced by sporadic illumination of the eastern edge of the nebula by the central star, PV Cep. The polarization pattern in the nebulosity immediately surrounding PV Cep is not typical of a simple reflection nebula and a polarized source model is proposed to account for this feature. The model also explains the variability of the polarization of the nebula and apical star.
