CCD images of the Seyfert type 1 galaxy NGC 4151 were obtained under excellent seeing conditions. The images were taken through broad-band V, R and I, and narrow-band H-alpha filters. Analysis of the data shows a complex structure in a region of about 4 arcsec around the nucleus. Two main systems were found: (1) an elongated structure present in V, R and narrow H-alpha at PA about 60 deg, extended over about 4 arcsec. The color maps corresponding to the inner 2-arcsec region of this structure show two unresolved components situated each side of the nucleus at PA about 75 deg which appear to be spatially coincident with both the arcsec scale radio-jets and the narrow emission line region; and (2) a nuclear 'bar' of about 1-arcsec length, seen only on the R frame, at PA = 150 deg. This 'bar' may be caused by anisotropies in the narrow-line-region distribution. Alternatively, it may represent an extended broad-line-region (BLR) which might be due either to scattering of nuclear light by a toroid that also collimates the nuclear radio jets or can be a truly extended BLR, a consequence of sporadic supernova outbursts.
