It is shown that the bending of radio jets in high-redshift galaxies is a natural consequence of the greater gas density in elliptical galaxies in the past and the stability or instability of particular orbits in a triaxial potential. The bending of the jet is a maximum at about 1 kpc from the nucleus of the galaxy, and the study of such bent jets can give information about the gas in this region of the galaxy. The model implies that there are 109 - 1010 M_sun; of gas in the nuclei of high-redshift galaxies with bent radio jets.
