The milli-arcsecond scale radio structure of CTA 21 has been mapped with a VLBI array at 6 cm. At this wavelength, the source has a double structure, with a separation of about 12 milli-arcsec in a position angle of -20 deg. Both components may be partially resolved in directions nearly perpendicular to the line joining them, which would be unusual for a very compact radio source. CTA 21 is among the few strong, compact-core-dominated radio sources which have not been mapped at any frequency above 1 GHz until now. It may be a new member of the class of compact doubles discovered by Phillips and Mutel.
