A solution is obtained for the Brans and Dicke (1961) equations for cosmological models of LRS Bianchi type V configuration. The solution is shown to have an analog in the theory of general relativity. The novel solution of the Brans-Dicke equations represents a metric for a massless scalar field or a perfect fluid in irrotational motion, where the equation of state has pressure equalling density.
