Exact vacuum solutions are derived for the class of spatially homogeneous space-times, in a unified manner, by means of a novel reduction of the Brans and Dicke (1961) vacuum field equations. Exact solutions are given for the isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models, the anisotropic Bianchi models of types I-IX, and the related, Kantowski-Sachs models. The space-times in question can be interpreted as cosmological models, and it follows that the sourceless scalar field phi is, dynamically, an essential factor which determines the cosmological expansion parameters.
