A model is studied in which plasma moving along the magnetic field lines of a white dwarf overcomes a potential barrier between the Roche lobes of the components, the height of the barrier being determined by the orientation of the magnetic field. It is assumed that turbulent motion occurs predominantly along the local normal to the equipotential Roche surface. An analytic expression is obtained for the accretion rate in terms of the physical characteristics of the system, the orientation of the dipole, and the velocity distribution function of the convective elements of the envelope of the companion.
