Strong evidence of magnetic fields is shown by white dwarfs, chemically peculiar stars, and late-type dwarfs. The magnetic data available for CP stars agree with the oblique rotator model. The distribution of the magnetic axis inclination could be random or a mixture of low and high obliquities. The data are consistent with rotational braking on the main sequence and with field decay. Moreover, they show an anti-correlation between the magnetic field strength and the rotational velocity.
