Results are presented of observations with the Very Large Array of the H I distribution of the face-on ScI galaxy NGC 628 which reveal new details in the kinematics of the H I disk of the galaxy. The H I distribution is shown to be very extended and asymmetric to the southwest. While the kinematics within the main body of the galaxy confirm well to a flat differentially rotating disk, the velocity structure outside is complex and could not be fully explained by a warp model. The deviations observed in the kinematics indicate that the very extended H I of NGC 628 has not settled into a well-behaved disk.
