An analysis of UBV photometry for ten stars which lie within 5 arcmin of the bright, 5.5-d cepheid V Cen, along with similar data for members of the nearby cluster NGC 5662, has resulted in the determination of a 661 + or - 24 pc distance for the cluster. It is also noted that V Cen is a candidate for membership in the cluster corona, in view of a derived space reddening for likely cluster coronal members near V Cen which agrees with published values for the cepheid's photometric reddening. The derived ages for V Cen and cluster stars, moreover, are both near 600,000 years, and the inferred luminosity of the cepheid as a cluster member is consistent with predictions based upon the period-luminosity relation.
