An attempt is made to develop an experimental device capable of reproducing the light curves of asteroid-like objects in the laboratory. Comparisons made among the light curves obtained from the laboratory tests have made possible the deduction of the main observed light curve characteristics. The analytic and numerical simulations of Barucci and Fulchignoni (1982) have yielded the same results, and comparisons between these theoretical results and those of the tests reported have permitted the calibration of the experimental results and the evaluation of their quality. The albedo of regular shape models with smooth surfaces are found to be in the 0.2-0.6 range, depending on their color. Light scattering is found to follow the Lambert law.
