Recent interpretations of the peculiar resonance-line profiles in the spectrum of PHL 5200 have suggested that a radially symmetric, outward decelerating flow is issuing from the nucleus of this quasar. The braking mechanism is briefly discussed, and an explanation is offered for the unique emission spectrum. Qualitatively, however, the kinematic conditions in th PHL 5200 envelope resemble the velocity field in other quasar and Seyfert-nucleus envelopes.
