It is shown on the basis of theoretical calculations that satellite photographs of the surface of a planet and of the planet's stellar background is used to determine the direction of the orbital chord, and the direction of a certain alternate vector which is the basis vector of a photogrammetric survey. A pair of detailed schematic diagrams illustrate the basis vectors described.
