Numerous observations of the heart of the Milky Way do not support the traditional theory of black holes. Even after accounting for the dust that cloaks the center of the galaxy, the galactic core appears only about one-thousandth as bright as expected. In addition to the fact that the radiation is not strong enough, the spectrum does not match the pattern predicted by the standard theory. Attempts to account for the observed behavior of black holes using an advection model are discussed.
