Delta Scuti Stars, Simulated Data, Space Mission: Corot
Scientific paper
The δ Scuti stars are high amplitude, non radial multiperiodic oscillators. For these stars, the major problem is the identification of the observed frequencies as specific oscillation modes; this step however is important to provide constraints upon the internal structure of the star. Observations from space will yield rich but complicated frequency spectra by increasing the number of detected modes: modes with smaller amplitudes and/or with higher degrees. Another difficulty is that the observed oscillation frequencies are not in the solar asymptotic regime. Then, will it possible to identify modes in such a complicated spectrum? To answer this question, simulated frequency spectra are built from a representative stellar model of a δ Scuti star and in the specific case of COROT space mission. Using histograms and echelle diagrams and by selecting modes by their amplitudes and their frequencies, we have initiated a process which should make possible to identify at least in a first step low degree modes from space data.
