We review the properties of classical novae, with particular emphasis on their dust formation. Recent observational and theoretical work indicates that CO formation in nova winds does not go to saturation, so that both oxygen- and carbon-rich condensates can appear simultaneously in the ejected material. The UIR carrier in novae appears to be near-unique to novae, although whether this is due to environmental, excitation or abundance effects is not yet clear.
