Radiometric determinations of Th, U, and K in 6 eclogites from metamorphic environments, and in 13 eclogitic rocks from volcanic environments are given. Good agreement is found between radiometrically and flamephotometrically determined potassium contents. The most important conclusions made from this study are: 1. (a) the Th / U ratio in eclogitic rocks is comparable to tholeiitic basalts of orogenic type; 2. (b) eclogites are derived from the upper portion of the mantle; 3. (c) the data indicate a more complex history of formation of the examined eclogites from metamorphic environments as compared with those from volcanic environments.
