4U 1820-303 is an ultracompact X-ray binary consisting of a white dwarf accreting via Roche-lobe overflow onto a neutron star. The binary period is 685 s. The luminosity is observed to vary by a factor 2 with a period of 170 days. and negative period derivative are observed. Hierarchical triple stellar model was proposed to explain the superorbital variability. In this model the luminosity variations are due to variations of the binary's orbital eccentricity. We modeled the system including Kozai mechanism, tidal and rotational bulges on the white dwarf, tidal dissipation, mass transfer and gravitational radiation. Our model explains origin of 170d luminosity variation and shows that if this is indeed triple system, the observed negative period derivative is not an intrinsic property of the system. We give an upper limit for tidal dissipation factor Q for white dwarf.
