Scientific paper

Color-magnitude (C-M) and color-color (C-C) diagrams based on the surface UBV photometry of M31 are presented. The shape of the region of maximum population of the C-M diagram corresponds to the shape of the turn-off region of the main sequence and the giant branch stars. The C-C diagram has two maxima due to the big tilt angle of the M31 plane. The coefficient of the reddening line for M31 is estimated as X ≈ 1.
