We have measured the intracluster light for a statistical sample of 26 galaxy clusters, and propose to measure velocity dispersions for the 16 systems that currently lack this data. Using optical drift-scan data and techniques we have developed for extracting low surface brightness signals, we have fit the intracluster light out to a substantial fraction of the virial radius for a statistical sample of 26 clusters. Our data for these clusters reveals not only that this diffuse intracluster light contributes a significant fraction of the total cluster luminosity, but also that every cluster has a significant intracluster light component. Preliminary analysis suggests that this stellar halo is red and a relaxed tracerof the cluster potenital, consistent with the picture in which the halo forms from the stripping of the initial cluster members and retains some kinematic memory of their orbits. The proposed observations will be used to confirm or refute this picture by determining whether the cluster halos can be described by a fundamental plane.
