The degree of long-axis orientation of the chondrules in the Leoville C3 chondrite was compared with that of the chondrules in three other Type 3 carbonaceous chondrites. This study was prompted by the visual disclosure of a strong long-axis chondrule orientation in the Leoville meteorite. Histograms from photographs of cut faces of these meteorites show a high degree of orientation in the Leoville chondrite, in the Grosnaja specimen, and on one face of the Vigarano chondrite. Coolidge samples exhibit a wide scatter.
