Timing observations of 66 pulsars, most of them discovered during the past 4 yrs, have yielded measurements of their period derivatives and much improved positions and dispersion measures. The data bring the number of measured period derivatives of pulsars to at least 366. Some evolutionary implications of this growing body of data are briefly commented on. In particular, it is shown that the new data provide further evidence in favor of the following hypotheses: (1) pulsar luminosities decay with age; (2) many pulsars are 'injected' into the population with initial periods P larger than 0.3 s; and (3) pulsars with large period derivatives are the most likely ones to exhibit measurable timing irregularities.
