Based on a statistical analysis about the X-ray variability Δtx and the X-ray luminosity Lx (2 - 10 keV) in a sample of 22 Seyfert galaxies, 5 nearby quasars and 1 radio galaxy, and the range of the ratio between total luminosities Lt and Eddington luminosity LEdd (λ = Lt/LEdd) obtained under the assumption of thick accretion disc in mechanical equilibrium (the only forces present being gravitation, rotation and pressure gradients), the author has estimated the masses of the massive objects at the centre of those active galaxies and the size of X-ray emission region.
