The large-scale mass fluctuations and peculiar velocity fields in the cosmic string scenario are calculated for different dark matter-dominated universes. The string density fluctuation spectra of Turok et al. (1985) before gravitational growth and the usual linear perturbation theory were used in the calculations. It is found that the peculiar velocity decreases more slowly with increasing distance than in most cosmological models. The decrease, however, is not enough to explain the observations of Collins et al. (1986). The results suggest that cosmic string density fluctuations alone cannot form such observed large scale structures.
