Observations of NH3 toward 160 IRAS sources embedded in the Ori and Cep molecular clouds at heliocentric distances 500-4000 pc are reported. Data obtained in the (1,1) and (2,2) transitions of NH3 with sensitivity 30-90 mJy rms and brightness noise temperature 0.15-0.50 K using a maser receiver and a split 1024-channel autocorrelator on the 100-m Effelsberg radio telescope are presented in extensive tables, graphs, and contour maps and discussed in detail. NH3 (1,1) emission is detected toward 37 sources, with higher determination rates toward luminous and H2O maser sources. The line widths in the Ori cloud are found to be about three times greater than in neighboring dust clouds and well correlated with the IRAS bolometric luminosities and the kinetic temperatures.
