Transient solar activities are defined in this paper as explosive releases of magnetic energy in the solar atmosphere. By photospheric driving we mean, in this paper, the roles played by the processes observed in the photosphere in accumulating the magnetic energy and complexity in the solar atmosphere. We have tried to clarify the key elements of the driving processes, based on both theoretical considerations and observations.
