The problem of magnetograph signal formation is considered with allowance for possible differences in the splitting-component intensities. This problem is of particular importance in studies of small-amplitude phenomena such as the global oscillations of the sun. An algorithm for signal formation is described which makes it possible (together with differential velocity measurements) to record relative brightness variations in the same line; this is of importance in the study of oscillatory processes.
