Scientific paper

During the past five years, three scientific satellites have been launched to investigate the terrestrial ionosphere and magnetosphere. The first one was in orbit during the period of extremely quiet solar activity and the other two were launched during the International Magnetospheric Study (IMS). In the present paper, some distinguished results including the anomalous ionospheric structure over the south Atlantic geomagnetic anomaly, UV imaging of auroral oval, observation of auroral particles, and plasma wave experiments are reviewed.
