The characteristics of wide-band light variations near the initial phase of flares on UV Cet-type stars, as light decrease ("dip") or increase relative to the quiescent star luminosity, are found to be correlated with the flare amplitude, equivalent duration and rise-time to light maximum. These results extend a previous finding by Shevchenko (1973) on flare amplitudes.
U, B and V observations of a few EQ Peg flares show that the star becomes bluer at pre-flare increase and redder at dip minimum; the latter is in qualitative agreement with a purely photospheric effect due to H¯ absorption as suggested by Grinin (1976).
