The theories of pure explosive nucleosynthesis of carbon burning predict that the supernovae with low metal content produce light metals with a strongly enhanced odd-even effect. Echelle spectra of halo stars, dwarfs and giants, were obtained, using an electronic camera. Most of the stars are so metal-deficient that, among aluminum lines, only the resonance lines are measurable. Since these lines are in the wing of Ca II lines, they have been interpreted using synthetic spectra. The physical constants adopted were checked by matching the sun's spectrum. The results are not compatible with the predictions of the pure explosive nucleosynthesis theories. They are consistent with the results obtained by other authors on similar stars or on less deficient cool stars where nonresonance lines of Al were measured.
